Materials:

  • Plain backpack
  • Acrylic paint
  • Paint brush
  • Monstera leaf stencil
  • Paper
  • Pencil

How to make a monstera leaf backpack:

  1. Start by making a stencil so you can easily paint on your leaves. I did this by drawing out a monstera leaf on plain, thick, paper. Then I carefully cut out the leaf. You can also make the stencil by copying an image from online.DIY Monstera Leaf Backpack | We're Going to Make it
  2. Once you have your stencil, take a pencil and trace around it directly onto your backpack. Do this several times in different areas to cover your backpack.DIY Monstera Leaf Backpack | We're Going to Make it
  3. Taking some green paint and a paint brush start to paint in the leaf. I first began by going around the edges of the leaf and then filling in the center of it. I used a pretty small paint brush to do this.DIY Monstera Leaf Backpack | We're Going to Make it
  4. Continue to paint in all of your leaves.
  5. Let the paint dry completely before you use your backpack

Summer Pink Flamingo Painted Doormat

Pink flamingo painted doormat | Popcorn & ChocolateI don’t know about you guys but our summer has been a busy one. Both Rose and I are in a sort of transition period between jobs and apartments and it has put a lot of stress on both of us. We sadly (and begrudgingly) had to move out of our apartment together for the rest of the summer until we know what our next steps in life will be. We’ve both been busy bees and have tried to keep up with the blog and our Etsy as much as we can. We do have a few posts for you planned so stay tuned for some fun goodbye summer/hello school themed posts coming up. But, in the meantime enjoy this pink flamingo painted doormat that we made for Homedit. This DIY was the last to be done in our apartment and it seems fitting that it is a doormat that we can take to our next apartment (wherever that will be)! Summer pink flamingo painted doormat We are excited for what the future brings and hopefully your future will bring you this wonderful DIY summer flamingo painted doormat. Colorful etched vases with flower puns and sayings

Colorful Etched Vases With Flower Puns & Sayings

IMG_1509

With summer upon us and beautiful flowers blooming all around we decided to create some cute and colorful etched vases with flower puns and sayings – because who doesn’t love a good flower pun or saying? We created these colorful etched vases by laying down letters and then etching and spray painting the vase to create a nice sea-glass tone. You can find the whole tutorial over on Homedit

We had a lot of fun coming up with different flower related sayings to put on these. Rose of course went with a rose is a rose is a rose. My mantra is more a rosé is a rosé is a rosé 😉

Halloween Pumpkin Carving

Popcorn & Chocolate Pumpkins

One of my all time favorite fall time activities is pumpkin carving. I can remember carving pumpkins ever since I was a wee little one. My whole family gets really into it each year and we end up buying a ton of pumpkins just to carve. We use the Pumpkin Masters carving patterns to make our jack-o-lanterns. These patterns really make our otherwise plain pumpkins into great pumpkin masterpieces. I think I would still be doing the two triangle eyes and zig-zag mouth if I didn’t have these patterns to go of off (not that there is anything wrong with a classic pumpkin!) My family has a stockpile of older carving stencils because some of the best patterns are in their older books.

My mom stuck to a witch theme this year

This past weekend, Rose and I made a trip up to New Hampshire in part to see the gorgeous fall foliage but also in a bigger part to carve pumpkins! My mom had about 12 pumpkins waiting for us when we arrived. Here are the lovely and spooky jack-o-lanterns that we made:

It was so hard to choose which pattern to use because my family has so many good ones!

Now hopefully they will just last until Halloween…

Tell us: do you like to carve pumpkins for Halloween?

Do you use the carving patterns or free hand it?

Which is your favorite pumpkin we carved?? (don’t worry, you won’t offend anyone 🙂 )
