Happy Pi(e) Day!

Today, 3/14/15 is the ultimate Pi day, i.e. a day to indulge in all things pie! Pie day happens every year on 3/14 but this year it’s ultimate because the year is the next two digits of pie! Neither Rose or I are big fans of traditional pie. Despite our parents disapproval, on Thanksgiving we both opt to make bars or brownies instead of apple or pumpkin pie. Don’t get me wrong, I will still indulge in a big slice of pie drowned in ice cream when it’s placed in front of me, I just prefer something a little more crunchy I suppose. Lets be honest, I will indulge in anything drowned in ice cream… heck just put the whole pint in front of me with a spoon. But I digress.. back to the ULTIMATE pi day.

We decided to round up some different, non-traditional pie recipes for you to try out today in honor of pi(e) day. Please note that none of these recipes or pictures are our own and we have credited all of the wonderfully creative people who’s they are.

ShepherdsPie

This Vegan Lentil Shepherd’s Pie from One Ingredient Chef just looks too good not to try. We have made a similar recipe before and absolutely loved it so this recipe I’m sure what disappoint. I mean, just look at that sweet potato.

Slow-Cooker-Chicken-Pot-Pie-1

This Slow Cooker Chicken Pot Pie recipe from Creole Contessa also looks amazing. We love love love chicken pot pie here and being able to let it cook all day in the slow cooker just makes it sound even better! Time to pull out the slow cooker again..

Next we have these Pumpkin Pie Roasted Almonds from Knead to Cook. As our previous post mentioned, we are big nut eaters in this household. Add some pumpkin pie to the nuts and yum! I could just eat these all in one sitting.
