In reality I’ll be home handing out candy to children hoping they don’t trip over the 10 pumpkins we all carved. We go a little pumpkin carving crazy over here. This year was no exception. Rose came over to my house and we carved 3 pumpkins each and then I kept on carving more when she left… between my mom, Rose, and I, we’ve got a total of 10 pumpkins. I think that’s some sort of record for us. Last Minute Halloween Craft - Sculpey Drink Stirrers | Popcorn & Chocolate

Last Minute Halloween Sculpey Drink Stirrers | Popcorn & Chocolate

Materials:

Instructions:

1.Start with a small chunk (about the size of a quarter) of whatever color Sculpey you want – I’ll be showing you the jack-o-lantern so I started with orange Sculpey.

2. Roll the Sculpey into a ball.

3. Taking the drink stirrer press it firmly into the Sculpey ball and twirl it around a little bit to loosen out the hole. Take the drink stirrer out.

4. Take some black Sculpey and roll out a thin piece to make the eyes and mouth. I used a tiny knife to cut small triangles for the eyes and a toothy mouth shape. Press these firmly onto the orange Sculpey ball.

Jack-O-Lantern Sculpey Drink Stir | Popcorn & Chocolateimg_26145. Bake the Sculpey according to your package instructions (I believe it is usually 275°F per 1/4 inch thickness – since the ball was pretty thick this took about 30-40 minutes). Let cool.

6. Once the Sculpey is baked and cooled, take your hot glue gun and dab a bit of glue onto the tip of the drink stirrer and then put the Sculpey ball where you just dabbed. For some of them, we didn’t make our hole big enough so we had to use the flat end of the drink stirrer instead of the rounded ball end, which is fine, but it looks better the other way around. DO NOT FORCE the Sculpey onto the drink stirrer if it does not fit – it will break (my broken bone can attest to that).

7. Pop in your cocktail and stir away!

Halloween Washi Magnets & Hair Barrettes

IMG_3236

We are continuing along with our Halloween series. This craft is super easy and so cute that you’ll want to leave the magnets up all year round!

IMG_3309 IMG_3244

The supplies you need are Washi, a magnet strip, and some paper. For our magnets we chose these two cute Halloween Washi tapes that we picked up at Target. All the Halloween decor always kills me at Target; it was a huge restraint not to buy half the store. This is the Washi we chose, but you don’t have to stick to Halloween Washi — also you could use fun paper instead.

IMG_3298

Take the Washi and tape a strip to a piece of paper. The Washi is a thin so the color paper will show through a little bit, keep that in mind when you chose what paper you want to use. I liked the look of a plain off-white beneath to brighten up the Washi.

IMG_3292 IMG_3313

Next, cut-out the strip of Washi on the paper. Also, cut off a small piece of the magnet and peel off the protective paper so the sticky side is exposed. Stick the Washi paper to the magnet and voila you are done!

IMG_3321

For the hair clip, do the same thing except instead of sticking the it to a magnet, hot glue it to a barrette!

See, wasn’t that easy? Now you have some cute fridge magnets for Halloween, and a good excuse to go buy that Halloween Washi you have been coveting – we sure did!

IMG_2837Happy October everybody!
Now that it is October, I feel like it is an appropriate time to start bombarding this blog with everything we have been working on for Halloween this year. We are planning on having a small Halloween party at our house with some of our friends, and so have been busy little bees gathering supplies, planning, and crafting everything Halloween. And now that it is October, we will start sharing some of the things we have been working on with you in case you wanted to join us!

IMG_2824This first craft, as you can see, is similar to our clothespin DIY. However instead of using washi tape (which you can definitely do as well), we decided to paint the clothespins some fun Halloween colors.First we painted the clothespins whatever base color we wanted (white, silver, or green) then once that completely dried, we taped off stripes using painters tape and then painted the rest black. Again, let dry completely and then peel off to reveal some fun stripes! Make sure you press the tape down tightly because otherwise the paint will creep underneath and mess up your straight lines.IMG_2809 IMG_2819

You can also use stamps to stamp out a fun Halloween saying or food – We chose “Witch Treat.”IMG_2806 IMG_2814

Once the clothespin is done, you can create a name tag for the food or drink you plan on serving at your Halloween party. This is when you turn to your friends or family members to help generate some spooky names for common foods. My mom and I always love a good word game, so we texted back and forth several different possible names one could give popcorn. I decided to go with Bat Brains, but here are some of the other names we came up with: toad warts, Frankenstein teeth, Goblin blobs, Ogre toenails. After I got sidetracked coming up with gory names for popcorn, I then stamped out what I wanted my place card to say on some orange paper. IMG_2804IMG_2827IMG_2825Now all you have to do is stick the paper in the clothespin and display it next to the food or drink you are serving! Easy as pumpkin pie.IMG_2855 IMG_2846 IMG_2853

We have been busy creating all sorts of Halloween goodies to display for our party. Check back shortly for some more of the ideas pictured on this table! Comment with any creepy names for food and drinks you come up with and maybe we’ll use some of them!
