What I Ate Wednesday: Halloween Edition

Hello lovelies! I can’t believe Halloween is already over and now there is Christmas music playing and Christmas decorations everywhere. What happened to Thanksgiving, people?? I’m still not over Halloween yet.. I need some time to shamelessly eat all my leftover candy, which is pretty much the two entire bags we bought. We bought two huge bags full of candy thinking we would get trick or treaters but sadly we only got a handful. Also, at the last minute I decided to throw in some plastic eyeballs into the pile of candy to make it spooky and the few kids that did come just wanted those instead of the candy! So, long story short, we have most of our candy left that need to be eaten before we can even think about delving into Christmas candy. Life’s rough ay?

Anywhoooo since it was a holiday and all, I thought it would be fun to share a What I Ate Wednesday, Halloween edition.

WIAW | Popcorn & Chocolate IMG_4025Breakfast: A bowl of poison A green smoothie bowl with kale, bananas, orange, hemp seeds, and topped with blueberries and granola. I figured it would be a good idea to start the morning with something healthy and full of greens because I would inevitably be eating lots of candy later. We got these cute Halloween mugs at HomeGoods if anyone is wondering!

WIAW | Popcorn & ChocolateLunch: More kale! A kale salad with leftover veggies roasted in a Mexican spice blend. I also had some chips and salsa on the side because you can’t have Mexican flavored things without chips and salsa!

WIAW | Popcorn & ChocolateSnack: A cup of tea with some graham crackers, peanut butter, and banana bits. This was a bit of a random snack but I had just woken up from a nap and was craving something sweet, hence the graham crackers. Usually I have this on a rice cake instead but gotta feed those cravings! Does anyone else crave sweets after napping?? Just me, okay…

WIAW | Popcorn & ChocolateDinner: Homemade chicken nuggets, mashed potatoes, and steamed veggies. This was such a deliciously nostalgic meal. Since it was Halloween and all, we decided to embrace our inner children and made some chicken nuggets for dinner. It was SO GOOD. I haven’t had chicken nuggets in foreverrrr. This plate was also covered in ketchup about 5 seconds after I took this picture..

WIAW | Popcorn & ChocolateDessert: A grown ups version of Halloween: wine, leftover Halloween candy, and popcorn! After the couple of trick or treaters came and went, we settled down with some treats to watch a movie. Can you tell that I like Milky Ways??

Welp, there it is what I ate on Halloween. And, incase anyone was curious as to what we were for Halloween, here you go: Wet Hot American Summer Costume | Popcorn & ChocolateWe went as Ben and McKinley dressed in their zoot suit from Wet Hot American Summer: First Day Of Camp. I thought we pulled it off pretty well if I do say so myself. Of course, about 30 minutes later we put on our real zoot suits: WIAW | Popcorn & Chocolate

So, I want to hear, what did everyone else do on Halloween?

Did you dress up?

Have you seen Wet Hot American Summer??

Let us know below and we might give you some of our leftover candy!

As always, thanks to Jenn & Arman for hosting this What I Ate Wednesday party! Check out their sites for more delicious foods!

Looks like an awesome halloween! that breakfast mug is so cute, I love the little message inside the mug! That is such a cute costume, I’m sorry that you didn’t get many trick or treaters, but hey, leftover candy is always a good thing! And with wine too? I mean, nothing really gets better then that 🙂

DAMMMMN your meals look incredible! I especially love that green smoothie in a bowl. Isn’t crunchy granola the best on something so creamy? I’m also in love with that mug. Saw something like in on Buzzfeed and I totally want one! How creative.
Your salad lunch looks fantastic, as do your snack and dinner. I haven’t had chicken nuggets in years and I can imagine how nostalgic that would feel. Would totally smother my plate in ketchup too. Do you use organic ketchup? I find it tastes a lot better and less sweet than regular 🙂
You look awesome in the costume. Have a great week!

Thank you!! I know I always like to have something crunchy when I have a smoothie that is why I prefer them in bowls so I can pile on the granola 🙂 You should check out your local homegoods/T.J. Maxx because that is where I find this one – maybe they have them on sale now that Halloween is over. I hadn’t had chicken nuggets in years as well but they were oh sooo gooood definitely would recommend having them soon 😉 I like organic ketchup as well. I keep wanting to try and make my own ketchup but we shall see if that ever happens! Thank you! Hope you have a wonderful week as well 🙂

So do I! It’s all about the texture. I like crumbled muffin and chopped nuts with yogurt on top of my oatmeal – texture heaven! I live in Waterloo, Ontario, which is pretty much the quietest city ever. There are four universities in the area so everything is SO student-oriented (read: instant noodles, pizza, beer everywhere). There aren’t any lovely home decoration stores like that here. You are so lucky!
Making my own ketchup has been on my bucket list as well. Not sure how that would turn out 🙂

I’m one of those people who immediately jumps to Thanksgiving- sorry! I’ve never really enjoyed Thanksgiving so I’m all about those sleigh bells!

Uhhh I love your mug that you had your breakfast in!!! I want it. Those bats are awesome!

Home Goods is seriously my favorite store ever. It has all the cute goodies from TJ Maxx and Marshalls, without all the clothes and shoes to distract me. That bowl is super cute!
Great job on the costume! I didn’t dress up as I just moved to a new hometown a few weeks back. Costumes kind of got put on the back burner – but I’m already thinking about what to dress up as next year!

I totally agree!! I could spend hours in that store! Thank you! Ah man that is a bummer that you weren’t able to dress up this year but I’m sure next year you will have something amazing, especially if you are planning now! 🙂
