We spent the long weekend back at my house in New Hampshire. It was luxurious and relaxing and full of everything fall. All the trees there are bright orange and red and yellow. Fall was in full swing so we decided to take advantage of all the pretty trees and go hiking one day.
We hiked up Cardigan Mountain in Orange, NH. The hike was positively gorgeous. The views on top of the mountain were incredible. You could see all these other mountain ranges and all the trees were spotted with different colors.
I mean look at that! You don’t get those kind of views in Boston!
But, before we went hiking I made sure to fuel up on a hardy breakfast.
For breakfast: oatmeal with blueberries, bananas, cinnamon, and some Justin’s almond butter. I like to bring the jar of almond butter to the table with me because you never know if you’ll need more 😉
Also does anyone else still read the comics??
For lunch: Sandwich with turkey, cheese, spinach, tomato, and cucumber. I also had an apple on the side. We ate our lunch once we reached the top of the mountain. We were quite hungry at that point so I’m glad we packed something!
Snack: Crackers with sunflower butter
. Back home from our hike I decided I needed a little snack to hold me over until dinner so I munched on these. This sunflower butter is too good! I couldn’t stop eating it!
Dinner: Chicken with mashed potatoes and maple brussels sprouts with a cauliflower and pecan side salad that was not pictured. I almost didn’t include this because this dinner was just a bit of an all around fail. We went out to dinner and ended up getting this dish that looks and sounds amazing but our chicken wasn’t cooked! We had to send it back twice and it still looked raw to us. The mashed potatoes and brussels were good at least!
After dinner eats: popcorn and wine! This is an old picture because I forgot to take one before I munched it all down, but it is pretty much the same as what I had. Gotta end the night with something right!
And just because here is a picture of us on the top of Mt. Cardigan! We look a little scary because it was crazy windy at the top so we had to bundle up!

Omg what an amazing view! The trees have completely changed colors and it’s absolutely gorgeous. That must have been a very fun day! My sister actually still reads a lot of comics and she actually just recently got me old barbie comics from the month and year I was born (I used to be really obesessed with Barbies, so she saw it as a fun gift). I think comics are awesome!
I know the views were just incredible. Ah sweet that seems like a really cool gift! The kid in me would be delighted to have barbie comics!
Your pictures of new Hampshire are gorgeous! I’m over here in Sn Diego, wishing I was on the east coast.
Thank you! I know it is very pretty right now with all the fall foliage!
You live in such a beautiful place that hike looks amazing, what views! Your brekky and lunch looked really yummy, but such a shame about dinner! Hope you get to enjoy many more lovely hikes in the area you are really lucky.
Thank you! I know the hike was incredible. At least part of the dinner was still good! Thank you!
Awesome pictures. I forgot how beautiful that quick hike up Cardigan is.
Thanks! I know it is such a great hike especially while the leafs are changing!
What an amazing place to have lunch! Those mountain views were gorgeous! Great eats too! 🙂
I know it was the perfect little spot to eat! Thanks!
Wow that is so gorgeous. Can’t think of a better way to spend a fall day 🙂 And I am DREAMING of that chocolate Sunbutter – I’ve never seen it where but I can just imagine how heavenly it must be!
Thank you! I know it definitely got me in the cozy fall mood. It is too good! I got it as a gift but I think you can find it on Amazon or off of their website if you were really itching to try it.
Beauuuutiful! I am so sad your dinner wasn’t delicious, because it sure looks it!
I love the comics and read them almost everyday! Family Circus always melts my heart.
Thank you! The sides were at least good! Yes I’m glad I’m not the only one! I have a soft spot for Marmaduke because my family has a great dane 🙂
I was about to say that dinner looks unreal… but uncooked chicken?! Even after sending it back I’d be too grossed out to eat it. Popcorn and wine is where it’s at!
I know it was a shame about the chicken but I made up for it with dessert 😉
That sandwich looks amazing but what a bummer about dinner. I hate when that happens 🙁
I know! It’s a bummer but at least my other meals were good 🙂
